Arlo and Art Paul
31 August 1997

I've met a couple times with Art Paul Schlosser, Madison's legendary street musician, about a joint show this fall. Looks like we'll be sharing the bill October 3rd at the Cafe Assisi. It will be a unique show, so don't miss it!

AOL's birthday
4 July 1997

Today marks the first birthday of Arlotone Online. In the last year, the site has been visited 627 times. That's not much compared to some sites, but almost two visitors a day? I think that's worth keeping it up for another year!

For a while, I was hoping to unveil a major renovation to the site on this date, but I didn't get around to it. A big change is coming, though: I've been looking into changing my URL to http://www.arlotone.com. If that happens, it will happen this month, and I'll put a big announcement on the first page when it does.

Iowa City show canceled
2 June 1997

With apologies to my fans there, I'm not too pleased with Iowa City these days. This weekend's show at Brewed Awakenings was canceled, I just learned this morning, due to that fine coffeeshop's having closed a couple of weeks ago. Venues don't cancel gigs on me very often -- I can only remember three -- but by some evil coincidence, all three cancellations have been in Iowa City! What's up with that?

Combined with the fact that I've been blacklisted from the Barnes & Noble in Cedar Rapids (another story for another day), I'm not sure when I'll be back to central Iowa again. Let me know if you have another venue in the area to recommend ... but I won't book anything without a contract!
